June 28: The Campus Brief
Dear Faculty and Staff,
We are excited to have our students, faculty, and staff all together for the start of Summer B, which kicks off today. This marks the first time since the start of the pandemic that UF will offer a fully normal campus experience. We look forward to the start of the fall semester in late August, when our campus will come even more alive with academic, cultural and athletic opportunities and beloved traditions.
As life returns to campus, we encourage all of you to be patient with those who will be experiencing the hustle and bustle of our amazing campus life for the first time and make them feel welcome. Our culture at UF is to look out for one another and show kindness. If someone looks lost, please help them find their way. If someone has questions, help them find answers.
Also, we strongly recommend that those of you who have not been vaccinated take advantage of the numerous pop-up vaccination sites that UF Health Screen, Test & Protect will host in high-traffic areas throughout campus in the coming weeks. Please look for information about these pop-up sites in the coming days through UF’s social media channels and on our campus COVID-19 website, where you can find answers to questions you may have during this time of transition.
We would also like to thank the team at UF Health Screen, Test & Protect, whose work during the pandemic has distinguished UF nationally. In addition to its enormous testing and tracing efforts, UF Health Screen, Test and Protect’s continued collaboration with the Florida Department of Health has resulted in one of the highest vaccination rates in the state. The fact that we can return to campus safely today is a testament to the commitment of the team at UF Health Screen, Test & Protect — and all of you.
Today is a milestone in the university’s history, and all of you have played a part in this past year as we’ve overcome the multiple challenges posed by the pandemic. We’re grateful for your continued perseverance and we look forward to everything we know we will accomplish together this academic year.
